Smoky Bay surrounding areas
Acraman Creek Conservation Park
15km south of Smoky Bay, signposted off the Flinders Highway.
The road in is 2 wheel drive access to Point Lindsay.
This low energy coast features typical sea grasses, mangrove,
samphire, and mallee succession.
A tidal creek extends well into a large samphire marsh. This
area provides excellent habitat for local and migratory
wet-land wild life.
A long sandy beach backed by sand dune makes this area a great
location for a short break.
Small boats can be launched from the beach, or with 4 wheel
drive vehicles into the estuary creek. Good fishing, but
seasonal.
Safe swimming from the beach, but take care in the creek due
to fast moving tides. Sheltered bush camping in the
mallee dunes. Good bird-watching in spring and summer.
No formal walking trails. |
